Is a Name Brand Better?

Yesterday I had an interesting conversation at a Chicos store. Chicos is a favorite store of mine, so when I found myself with an hour to kill before an appointment, I stopped in the nearby store to check out the sale racks. I have a lot of Chicos clothes in my closet and they have all been bought on sale. I think their full-price clothes are just too pricey. Actually, I think that of most places. I am definitely a sale shopper. At Chicos yesterday, I found a pair of ankle pants, a black long sleeve tee, and a "crinkle" jacket, all for just over $100. I was quite pleased with myself.

Back to the interesting conversation. One of the saleswomen noted that I was wearing one of their skirts and she said, "and our jacket." It was a blue denim jean jacket and I told her, no, it wasn't Chicos and she said, "are you sure?" I didn't remember what the brand was but I told her it was just a cheap one and slid it off my shoulders. We looked at the lable and it was St. John's Bay, a JC Penney brand. The sales lady said, "Oh, I think they're all made by the same manufacturer anyway."
I was really surprised to hear her say that!
